NVQ INFORMATION GUIDE - NVQ PROCESS

ADSA now have in place two Assessors who have commenced programmes for NVQs in:

» Pedestrian Automatic Doors – Installation
» Pedestrian Automatic Doors – Servicing/Maintenance/Repairs

Companies can register candidates by completing the attached form and returning to ADSA. The Company NVQ Project Manager will then be sent an Induction Form. This should be completed by the candidate and returned to ADSA together with all relevant paperwork such as a copy of their Health & Safety Test Registration and BS:7036 Certificate for the preparation of the candidate's portfolio.

The Company NVQ Project Manager should then decide whether to apply for a Trainee (red) CSCS Card to allow the candidate access to site or wait until the candidate has obtained his NVQ when a CSCS card will automatically be issued.

As soon as a place becomes available, the Assessor will contact the Company NVQ Project Manager to arrange an Induction Interview with the candidate. It is envisaged that the Assessor will make two or three observation visits with the candidate to show competence on site and if everything is satisfactory the paperwork will be completed and signed off.

The cost of the NVQ for candidates who meet the necessary criteria will be met by LSC Funding at NSAC. However, exclusions to this are:

Candidates who both live in and work for companies based in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, limited funds available if in doubt, check with ADSA.
Candidates who already hold 2 NVQ's (either in a related or non-related subject).
In these cases the cost of the course, currently estimated at £700.00 - £900.00, will be chargeable to the Company.

An Application Form and a Witness Testimony form can be downloaded below and faxed or emailed back. Extra Documentation is required for this NVQ, this includes:

» Company method statements, generic or site specific, these must be signed by the candidate.
» Company risk assessments, generic or site specific, these must be signed by the candidate.
» Job sheets for work done, these should cover a range of products that the candidate has worked on. These should be signed by both the candidate and customer.
» Commissioning sheets for work done, these should cover a range of products that the candidate has worked on. These should be signed by the candidate.
» Drawings associated with work done by the candidate.
» Witness statements covering work history with the company.
» Any other documentation that has been signed by the candidate.

Please note in all cases that any cancellation by the Company or 'no show' by the candidate of a pre-arranged induction or assessment appointment will be subject to additional charges.
